Fans of the iconic Gears of War: E-Day may finally have a clue about the game’s possible release timeline. A recent promotional video for WWE Triplemania 34 has sparked fresh speculation that the highly anticipated title could launch sometime in September 2026.

The teaser, shared by Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide, briefly featured the logo of Gears of War: E-Day alongside the event dates of September 11 and September 13. While neither Microsoft nor developer The Coalition has officially confirmed a release date, fans believe the appearance could hint at a launch window tied to the event.

The speculation arrives as marketing activity around the game continues to increase ahead of the upcoming Xbox showcase. Microsoft has already confirmed that Gears of War: E-Day will receive a dedicated presentation immediately after the Xbox Games Showcase on June 7, 2026.


In an earlier announcement, Microsoft said the showcase would feature “first gameplay looks and huge news” from Xbox’s first-party studios and global partners. The company also confirmed that the special “Gears of War: E-Day Direct” presentation will dive deeper into the game’s story, gameplay mechanics, and the origins of Emergence Day — the catastrophic beginning of the Locust invasion.

The upcoming direct is expected to reveal major new details about the game, including a clearer timeline for release.

First unveiled in 2024, Gears of War: E-Day serves as a prequel to the long-running Gears of War franchise. The game explores the terrifying first days of the Locust Horde invasion, one of the most important events in the series’ lore. Since its reveal, details about the project have remained limited, adding to fan anticipation.

The title is being developed using Unreal Engine 5 and is currently planned for Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S consoles. Industry watchers believe Microsoft could position the game as one of Xbox’s biggest releases of the year.

Although the September release window remains unconfirmed, the timing would allow Gears of War: E-Day to launch ahead of several major holiday season titles expected later in 2026. For now, fans will likely have to wait until the Xbox Games Showcase in June for official confirmation.
