GATE 2026 registration to begin on August 25 at gate2026.iitg.ac.in; check steps to apply and more

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati will start the GATE 2026 registration process on August 25, 2025. Candidates can apply for the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2026 through the official website — gate2026.iitg.ac.in

The last date to register without a late fee is September 25, 2025, while applications with a late fee will be accepted until October 6, 2025.

How to Apply for GATE 2026

Step 1: Visit the official GATE 2026 website.

Step 2: Click on the registration link.
Step 3: Register by filling in the required details.
Step 4: Log in with your credentials.
Step 5: Complete the application form and pay the fee.
Step 6: Submit the form and download the confirmation page.
Step 7: Keep a printed copy for future reference.

Application Fees

• Female/SC/ST/PwD candidates: ₹1000 (regular), ₹1500 (late) per paper.
• All other candidates: ₹2000 (regular), ₹2500 (late) per paper.

GATE 2026 Exam Schedule

• Dates: February 7, 8, 14, and 15, 2026

Shifts

• Morning: 9:30 AM – 12:30 PM
• Afternoon: 2:30 PM – 5:30 PM

Exam Pattern

• Conducted for 30 subjects (test papers).
• Each paper is 100 marks:
• 15 marks for General Aptitude (common to all papers).
• 85 marks for the chosen subject(s).

Certain papers like Civil Engineering (CE) and Computer Science (CS) may be held in multiple sessions, but each candidate can appear in only one allotted session.
