GATE 2023 registration to begin from August 30; exam to be conducted in 219 cities

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kanpur is all set to begin the GATE 2023 registration process on the 30th of August. For the convenience of students, especially from rural areas, IIT Kanpur has also announced new examination centers for the exam. The GATE 2023 exam will be held in 219 cities after 23 new cities or towns were added to the list.

The GATE exam last year was held in 206 cities, but this year many new cities have been added, while 10 cities that were earlier part of the list have now been removed due to operational issues.

The GATE 2023 examination will be held on 4th, 5th, 11th and 12th February, 2023 across eight zones. The submission deadline for the Application form is 30th September.


IIT Bombay, Delhi, Guwahati, Kanpur, Kharagpur, Madras, Roorkee, and the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bangalore all will jointly organise GATE 2023. The organising institute is IIT Kanpur, and the cities are distributed among these eight zones.

Additionally, GATE 2023 will be held in some foreign cities including Dhaka (Bangladesh), Dubai (UAE), Kathmandu (Nepal), Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia), Male (Maldives), Port Louis (Mauritius), Singapore (Singapore), and Thimphu (Bhutan). However, as stated on the GATE 2023 website, students from all other nations may take the exam at any of the Indian examination cities.
