Ganeshotsav 2026: How Is The Festival Celebrated?

Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations traditionally begin with the installation of Lord Ganesha's idol. This is followed by prayers, Prana Pratishtha, aarti and offerings.

Devotees offer fruits, flowers, Durva grass, incense and sweets to Lord Ganesha. Modak holds a particularly important place in Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations and is among the most popular offerings made during the festival.

While many families bring Bappa home, large community pandals are also set up across cities and towns. These public celebrations often include devotional programmes, cultural events, music performances and social initiatives.

Ganesh Chaturthi 2026 Visarjan Date

The traditional 10-day Ganeshotsav celebrations will conclude on Friday, September 25, 2026, with Anant Chaturdashi, which is considered the main day for Ganesh Visarjan.

On this day, devotees and large public Ganesh mandals participate in processions before immersing the idols as part of the traditional rituals.
