'Gala daba diya': Landlady went to collect rent in Ghaziabad's Rajnagar Extension, tenants kill and stuff body in suitcase

A 48-year-old woman was allegedly killed by her tenants when she went to their flat to collect rent at a housing society, police said on Thursday. The incident occurred at Aura Chimera Society around 11 pm, and the accused couple has been arrested.

The deceased was identified as Deepshikha Sharma. Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Nandgram Upasna Pandey told PTI, Sharma and her husband, Umesh Sharma, owned two flats in the society, one of which had been rented out to a couple.

“She went to the rented flat to collect rent but did not return till late night, which raised suspicion,” Pandey said, as quoted by PTI. “Her maid, along with neighbours, went to the flat to look for her, following which her body was recovered stuffed inside a red bag from the flat,” she said.



Police were informed at around 11.15 pm through the Police Response Vehicle (PRV), after which a team reached the spot and arrested the tenants, identified as Ajay Gupta (35) and Akriti Gupta (33), Pandey said, according to PTI.

“A case has been registered and the body has been sent for post-mortem examination. Further investigation is underway,” the ACP added, as per PTI.
