‘Gaddar Trump ka Antim Sanskar': Peter Navarro’s remark on ‘Brahmins’ sparks memefest in India

White House trade adviser Peter Navarro’s remark that “Brahmins in India are profiteering from Russia oil trade” triggered strong reactions online, with many Indian users mocking the statement through memes and sarcastic posts. Navarro made the comment while linking India’s purchase of Russian oil to Donald Trump’s earlier 25 percent tariff policy. He said, “I would just simply say to the Indian people, please understand what’s going on here. You’ve got Brahmins profiteering at the expense of the Indian people. We need that to stop.”

In the same interview, he added that India had turned into a “laundromat for the Kremlin’s money” and the “maharaja of tariffs.” His remarks have been viewed as a sign of tensions in US-India trade relations.

Navarro’s remarks quickly spread on X, where users reacted with humor. Several posts referenced popular cultural symbols, turning the issue into a meme trend.
