G20 summit: All about the venue in Bali’s Nusa Dua

The resort island of Bali on Tuesday will see the gathering of the globe's most powerful figures together.

Nineteen leaders will seek solutions to myriad global crises on the Muslim-majority Indosnesia's mostly Hindu "Island of Gods".

Russia's presdient Vladimir Putin is not attending the summit.


Preparations for 20 national delegations, plus other prominent international figures including the heads of the United Nations and FIFA, are well under way.

The leaders and other dignitaries will assemble at Apurva Kempinski, a luxury resort in Bali’s Nusa Dua. The beachfront resort has 475 rooms, suites and villas. It has seven dining outlets, a luxurious ocean-facing spa and fitness centre.

Apurva Kempinski is located on top of a cliff and has a 60-metre swimming pool and a separate kids’ pool.

The luxury resort boasts a 1,076 square metre pillar-free ocean-view ballroom, several meeting rooms and wedding venues with serene ocean views.

Security
The Indonesian military will provide the inside ring security while the outer rings will be manned by country's police force.

The military will deploy 12 warships, 13 helicopters and four fighter jets -- two F16s, a Sukhoi-27 and a Sukhoi-30 -- along with a Boeing reconnaissance aircraft, another Boeing aircraft for VIPs, and two Hercules cargo aircraft, including one for medical evacuations.

As well as facial recognition cameras, police will deploy hundreds of bodycams to protect the Nusa Dua area and 1,700 CCTV cameras will be in operation.

The authorities have instructed Bali residents not to fly kites during the event for fear of knocking out power lines.
