While many employees across India are busy opening their Diwali hampers to find boxes of sweets, dry fruits and the occasional gift voucher, four employees of a Jodhpur-based company had a much bigger surprise waiting for them this festive season. Their Diwali gifts came with car keys, registration papers and a brand-new set of wheels! Education marketing agency Mediagarh gifted four new cars to its employees during its annual Diwali celebration, Sneh Milan 3.0, held at Hotel Madhuram Royale in Jodhpur on November 6, coinciding with Dhanteras. And this wasn't simply a one-off festive gesture. The company has been following the tradition for the past three years, increasing the number of cars it gives away with every passing year.

What started with one car in the first year grew to two in the following year. This time, the company took things up a notch by putting four brand-new cars in the hands of its employees.

Four employees, four new cars: Meet the lucky recipients

The big reveal was undoubtedly the highlight of the evening. Four employees were recognised for their contributions to the organisation and rewarded with brand-new vehicles.

The recipients and their cars were:

  • Pranjal Mathur, Web Developer: Received a Tata Tiago.
  • Aman Usmani, Lead UI/UX Designer: Received a Tata Tiago.
  • Mehak Lalwani, Senior Account Manager: Received a Hyundai i20.
Nitin Sisodiya, Project Manager: Received a Tata Harrier.

The cars were presented in recognition of the employees' performance, dedication and contribution to the company's growth. With colleagues and family members present, the announcements turned into emotional moments for the recipients.

Lalwani, who had delivered the opening address at the event, was among those taken by surprise by the recognition.

Mediagarh's Diwali celebration brings together 250 people

The celebrations were not limited to the four car handovers. Sneh Milan 3.0 brought together more than 250 people, including over 100 employees from Mediagarh's offices in Jodhpur, Jaipur and Bengaluru, along with their family members.

The company also distributed Diwali hampers across departments as part of the festivities. Employees were recognised through several other awards, with 15 silver and 15 gold awards presented for their performance.

Founder Pankaj Budhwani said the cars were a way of recognising the recipients' consistent efforts and hard work. Co-founder Vanshika Agarwal, meanwhile, spoke about the importance of bringing employees and their families together through such celebrations.

For the four recipients, however, the evening ended with something considerably more exciting than the usual office Diwali hamper.

Companies go big on Diwali gifts

Mediagarh isn't the only company making headlines for its employee gifts this festive season. Several businesses have come up with their own ways of making Diwali celebrations memorable, with some opting for smartphones, SUVs and cash rewards instead of conventional gift boxes.

A Delhi-based company in Rohini reportedly surprised its employees with iPhone 16 smartphones. Panchkula-based MITS Healthcare, meanwhile, gifted four Kia Sonet SUVs to employees, continuing its tradition of rewarding staff with cars. The company had reportedly distributed 51 cars in 2025.

Skincare brand Fixderma chose a different combination, giving around 700 employees Rs 5,000 in cash along with trolley bags. NoBroker also planned Diwali gifts worth approximately Rs 4,000 each for around 250 outsourced workers, including housekeeping, security and maintenance staff.

Meanwhile, Noida-based Info Edge, the parent company of Naukri.com, reportedly included Philips steam irons, apples, dry fruits, LED candles and ladoos in its festive hampers.

And if that sounds generous, Kohler's much-discussed 2025 Diwali hamper featured a 20-gram silver bar, an air fryer and a coffee machine.

When your office Diwali gift comes with car keys!

For most people, an office Diwali celebration means dressing up, exchanging greetings, enjoying some sweets and bringing home a festive hamper. Some might even get a bonus or a gift voucher.

But for four Mediagarh employees, this year's celebration came with an entirely different kind of surprise. After all, there is only so much excitement a box of kaju katli can generate!

The company's growing car-gifting tradition has certainly raised the bar for workplace Diwali celebrations. And somewhere, employees opening their usual festive hampers might just be wondering whether they should have asked HR for something a little bigger this year.
