Jackie Shroff shares a 'will' for his plants
Recently, Jackie Shroff brought a smile to his fans by sharing a hilarious "Last Will & Testament" on his Instagram Stories, with his beloved plants named as the star beneficiaries.Dated September 1, 2026, the mock document opened in formal legal language: "I, Jackie Shroff, son of Shri Kakubhai Shroff, residing at Mumbai, Maharashtra, India, being of sound mind and body, do hereby declare this to be my Last Will and Testament”, on his Instagram story.
Under a section titled "Care and Guardianship," the mock will named his Spider Plant as the caretaker of his farmhouse, stating, "The farmhouse shall remain in the care of beloved Spider Plant".
He also earmarked a dramatic sum for garden upkeep. The "Financial Provisions" clause stated, "A sum of Rs. 99 lakhs to be set aside for the composting section in the farmhouse and all the gardening tools".
Another clause promised "a lifetime budget allocated for all my plants, pots, and gardener," while the "General" section summed up his affection for his green companions: "My plants are my family. They must be nurtured, protected and loved always."
True to his trademark sense of humour, Jackie signed off the document with a disclaimer: "DIL PE MAT LE, JUST A JOKE SHROFF."
The man behind the 'Plant Zaddy' persona
Shroff runs an organic farm where he grows plants, trees and herbs and has often spoken about how his passion for gardening keeps him grounded. His advocacy for greenery also extends to public platforms. “My plants are my family, my pets. They also need shade and water. We have to nurture and take care of them. They give us oxygen, so they are your buddies. Let’s make the globe a lovely garden,” says Shroff.
In 2020, he started an online campaign through his Instagram initiative, 'Ped Lagao Bhidu', encouraging people to plant trees and take greater responsibility for the environment. His association with the cause has continued over the years, and in August 2025, gardening platform Ugaoo named him its brand ambassador.
