From selling vegetables in Mumbai to studying 18 hours a day: An inspiring journey from struggles to owning a ₹1 crore home at 21

For Abhishek Vaishya, the path to success did not begin in a corporate setting but at a humble vegetable cart in Mumbai. Today, he is a chartered accountant running a successful practice in Oman, guiding businesses on corporate strategy and finance. However, some of his most valuable life lessons were shaped during his childhood while assisting his father in selling vegetables in Mumbai’s Vikhroli area.

Vaishya’s journey was recently highlighted in a YouTube video by Kushal Lodha, tracing his rise from a chawl in Vikhroli to becoming a successful entrepreneur.

Humble Beginnings in Mumbai

Vaishya grew up in a modest 150-square-foot home shared by five family members. The limited space and financial challenges left a deep impact on him, eventually motivating him to change his family’s circumstances.


At just 21 years old, he made a life-changing decision by purchasing a ₹1 crore flat for his parents in Thane. The 2BHK apartment is located in a gated community.

“I wanted my parents to live in a better place. That was the reason I took a chance at the age of 21,” he told content creator Kushal Lodha. “I’m very grateful to my father. Even after struggling so much, he ensured that we receive a good education.”

From Chawl Life to Global Career

He now manages a thriving CA practice across Oman and the UAE and also runs a cloud kitchen business in Oman.

Balancing Work and Studies

His early years were marked by relentless hard work. As a school student, he would wake up early to help his father sell vegetables. This routine continued even during his college years and CA articleship.

“I would manage somehow… I would study at night. During the 3-4 months’ break we get to prepare for CA exams, I would ensure that I study 16 to 18 hours a day,” he revealed.

Financial Struggles at Home

The family’s financial condition was unstable, with his father’s earnings fluctuating daily.

“My father’s income was inconsistent. Some days he earned ₹200, some days it was ₹400. Some days it was even negative earnings,” the CA told Lodha.

On average, his father earned around ₹25,000 to ₹30,000 a month from selling vegetables.

A Turning Point in Career

Vaishya contrasted his early struggles with his professional earnings later in life. His first salary as a chartered accountant in Oman was ₹1.5 lakh per month. Over time, his income grew to around ₹2.5 lakh before he decided to take a leap of faith. After working for six years in Oman, he left his job to establish his own practice.
