Bengaluru masala dosa
A light-hearted video from Bengaluru showing a Danish intern’s six-month transformation into a full-blown dosa lover has gone viral online. Shared by Innovation Centre Denmark in Bangalore and reposted on X by Indian Railway Accounts Service officer Ananth Rupanagudi, the clip shows how Peter Kjærgaard Christensen went from asking for “no spicy, no spicy” on day one to confidently ordering a “ghee pudi masala dosa, spicy” by the end of his stay.

First day vs last day: A tasty transformation

The video neatly splits Peter’s Bengaluru experience into two halves, his first day and his last day in the city.

On day one, he carefully orders “one ma-sa-la dosa” with a strong accent and quickly adds, “no spicy, no spicy.” He uses a knife and fork and looks unsure as he tastes the unfamiliar dish, even pairing it with a safe fizzy drink.

Six months later, the change is striking. He confidently asks for “one ghee pudi masala dosa, spicy,” drinks filter coffee, eats with his hands, and even licks his fingers at the end. The clip closes with the Danish Consulate’s logo, turning the moment into a playful cultural message.

Social media joins the fun

The internet wasted no time reacting.

One user joked, “If he's been eating at Rameshwaram Cafe, his arteries are clogged enough to give his doctor a heart attack!” Another wrote, “Bro became one of us in 6 months.”

Some users also pointed out how foreign diplomats often use such creative content to connect with Indians, while others said Indian envoys abroad could try similar outreach.

Bengaluru’s dosa diplomacy is not new

Bengaluru’s love for masala dosa has long impressed foreign visitors.

From famous restaurants like MTR to small darshini eateries, the city’s dosa culture has turned everyday food into a soft cultural bridge. Diplomats and officials from different countries have often spoken about their love for dosas and filter coffee after visiting the city.

Bengaluru attracts global professionals with its mix of technology and tradition. The masala dosa, a simple rice-and-lentil crepe filled with spiced potatoes and served with chutney and sambar, reflects that blend of comfort and complexity.
