The Olympian recently shared a video of himself driving a tractor and ploughing farmland in Razadan village, around 50 km from Amritsar. With a Sidhu Moosewala song playing in the background, Jarmanpreet captioned the video, “Nation duty – home duty”. He was preparing the family’s land for wheat sowing, which is expected to begin in about a fortnight.
Besides playing for India, Jarmanpreet serves as an income-tax officer posted in Bengaluru. However, when he returns to his village, he makes time to help his family with agricultural work. The six-foot-tall defender, known for his imposing presence on the hockey field, believes that young people should remain connected to their families and fulfil their responsibilities towards their parents.
“Every child should fulfil their responsibilities towards their parents and spend enough time with the family,” he said, sharing his message for the youth.
Returning home during breaks between tournaments has become a priority for Jarmanpreet, who believes that family support should be reciprocated. “Your parents always stand by you, so must you. Spend time with them,” he said.
Jarmanpreet has built an impressive record in international hockey, winning gold medals at the 2022 Asian Games in Hangzhou, China, and the 2026 Asian Games in Japan. He was also part of the Indian team that won silver at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham and bronze at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
With these achievements behind him, Jarmanpreet is now set to turn his attention to the next Asian Champions Trophy campaign, which is to be hosted by the Punjab government, as well as preparations for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.
