French police in action as Champions League Final faces chaos with crowd mismanagement
Champions League Final 2020 witnessed some unwanted scenes wherein the French police used teargas and pepper spray against Liverpool fans. However, the French authorities have defended the police's action.

The event occurred due to massive mismanagement on the side of the organisers. It all started when thousands of Liverpool fans were stopped from entering the stadium to watch the title clash between Liverpool FC and Real Madrid. The agitated fans then started to panic and started shouting against the authorities. The match was held at Paris' Stade de France.
As the time passed, the chanting got louder, and the police stepped up to control the crowd. However, the way the police handled the situation has sparked anger. As per a Liverpool fan, thousands of people were bottled necked near a checkpoint, and the security personnel were taking so much time that hardly ten people could cross the checkpoint in a minute.
Since very few people were able to go through the checkpoint in a minute, a scenario had taken place where people got scared of getting crushed, the fan added. The situation worsened, and parents had to protect their children by taking them on their shoulders, and even grown men were panicked and crying.
When the police arrived to handle the situation, they used teargas and pepper spray on agitating fans, causing a widespread uproar. Even Britain PM Boris Johnson's spokesman also condemned the police action.
All these undesired circumstances marred the joy of the Champions League Final 2022. The match got delayed for more than 30 minutes as well.
However, French Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin defended the police action. He said the elements that caused such an untoward situation were ticket scams and Liverpool Fans' behaviour.
Meanwhile, Real Madrid won its 14th Champions League title after defeating Liverpool 1-0.
