There couldn’t be a more challenging match in French Open 2022 than the quarterfinal between world No. 1 Novak Djokovic and 13-time champion Rafael Nadal. This highly-anticipated match is scheduled to take place on Tuesday. However, the Spaniard player has already expressed his reservation against the controversial night session.

The match is scheduled to be broadcasted at 9 pm local time in France, for which Amazon Prime has exclusively taken the rights. The night season was first introduced in 2021 for Roland Garros’ claycourt edition.

However, Nadal has already made it clear that he doesn’t like night sessions on clay court. Needless to say that Nadal has already earned an almost mythical status at Roland Garros by winning the title 13 times.

According to the King of the Clay, the ball gets slower on the clay due to higher humidity, and there can be adverse conditions, especially when it is cold. Then he added that the gaming strategy could make a big difference in the way one plays tennis on clay during the day and at night.

Other quarter-finalists Carlos Alcaraz and Alexander Zverev also opined that they would not prefer to play their quarterfinal match during the night session.

When Djokovic was asked about his choice, he answered with a smile that as top players, both Rafa and he requested to change the schedule, whereas those ‘requests are not always accepted.’

The rivalry between Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic is so prolific that the COVID-19 curfew was relaxed in the French Open 2021 when Djokovic defeated Nadal in the semi-final match.

The high-voltage match will be shown live on Prime Video for free in France this year.

The Djokovic vs Nadal match for the French Open 2022 quarterfinal will start at 12:15 am IST on Tuesday in India. The match will be telecast live on the channels of Sony Sports Network, including Sony TEN 2, Sony TEN 3, Sony TEN 4 and SONY SIX.
