Galtier, who left PSG's Ligue 1 rivals Nice last month, has signed a two-year deal at the Parc des Princes with the French champions confirming the appointment shortly after announcing Pochettino's departure.
"Yes, I am emotional, yes I am proud," Galtier said at a press conference.
According to media reports, Galtier is expected to build a strong line-up around Kylian Mbappe in a bid to achieve Champions League glory. However, the 55-year-old manager will apparently be under huge pressure to be a successor to Mauricio Pochettino.
Galtier is the seventh manager appointed since the Qataris took over the French club in 2011.
As per reports, Galtier has been handed a two-year contract, banking on his notable successful runs at Saint-Etienne and Lille. Galtier will work in tandem with football advisor Luis Campos, who recently joined PSG. Galtier and Luis have previously worked together at the Lille.
Commenting on his arrival at PSG, Galtier said that he was delighted to work with the talented players and thanked club chairman Nasser Al-Khelaifi. Galtier mentioned that he was fully aware of his responsibilities in coaching PSG and that he was looking forward to working with Neymar.
