Ahead of the T20 World Cup in Australia, the tournament has already been met with criticism from former cricketer Wasim Jaffer, who was confounded by the boundary placement in the ongoing England-Australia T20I series.

England are playing the Australian team in a three-match T20 series, during which Jaffer noticed a change in boundary placements that has thrown the retired player for a loop.

Jaffer noticed that the boundaries at the Australian ground were pulled in, making the field smaller. The former Indian cricketer took to Twitter to air his views, hoping that "that's not the case during the WC."

The 44-year-old made a case for the grounds Down Under being large and the boundaries being long making playing the gentleman's game in Australia fun.

Grounds in Australia are traditionally large, making them a challenge for batsmen looking to post huge scores. But with higher scores making for more viewership in the shortest format of the game, the World Cup organisers might decide to pull in the boundaries to make the tournament even more appealing.

Such a decision, however, could disrupt certain teams' preparations for the showpiece event.
