Business tycoons Gautam Adani and Mukesh Ambani have retained the top spots in the Forbes Top 100 Richest Indians 2022 list. The list shows that the combined wealth of the top 10 richest Indians has surpassed $800B. The combined wealth grew by $25B even though the stock market was marginally down as compared to last year, and the rupee weakened against the US dollar.

Gautam Adani claimed the top spot in the list, with a net worth of ₹ 1,211,460.11 crores. A Mint report suggested that Adani’s wealth grew by three times in 2021 alone. With a net worth of $134.7 billion, Adani is also the third richest individual in the world, only behind Elon Musk and Bernard Arnault.

However, it is the first time that Forbes has ranked the Chairperson of the Adani Group the richest Indian, the spot which belonged to Mukesh Ambani for a very long time. The Chairman & MD of Reliance Industries currently has a net worth of ₹ 710,723.26 crores. Ambani lost the top position for the first time since 2013.
