Long-distance bus travel is getting a premium makeover in Kerala, where the state transport operator is offering a business-class service designed to give passengers a more comfortable, flight-like journey. A recent Instagram video by user Ajay Johny has drawn attention to the service, showcasing the facilities available on the premium KSRTC bus. From reclining seats and personal entertainment screens to Wi-Fi and an onboard hostess, the service offers several features usually associated with air travel.

What does Kerala's premium KSRTC bus offer?

The business-class bus comes with 36 reclining seats, giving passengers a more spacious and comfortable seating experience during the journey.

Each seat is equipped with an individual entertainment screen. Passengers also get access to USB charging points and free Wi-Fi throughout the trip.


The bus also has a pantry area featuring a mini refrigerator and a coffee maker.

One of its more unusual features is an onboard hostess, who serves snacks and beverages to passengers during the journey.

The bus also has an attached washroom, adding another convenience for passengers travelling between the two cities.

KSRTC premium bus route and timings

The premium service connects Thiruvananthapuram with Ernakulam in Kochi, covering around 200-227 km depending on the route taken.

The bus leaves Thiruvananthapuram at 5:30 am and reaches Ernakulam at 9:30 am. On the way, it stops at Kollam Ayathil, Alappuzha Komadi and the High Court.

For the return journey, the bus departs Ernakulam at 5:30 pm and reaches Thiruvananthapuram at 9:30 pm, following the same route.

The service between Thiruvananthapuram and Ernakulam is available from Monday to Friday.

A business-class ticket from Thiruvananthapuram to Ernakulam costs Rs 671.

Given the facilities included in the service, the premium offering is aimed at passengers looking for greater comfort during an intercity bus journey.

How to book KSRTC premium bus tickets

Passengers can book seats through the KSRTC Swift online booking platform or via WhatsApp.

During the online booking process, passengers can choose their route, travel date, service and preferred seat before making the payment.

After the booking is completed, the e-ticket and PNR details are sent to the passenger through WhatsApp.
