First Bengaluru, now Gurugram: Tweeples compare tale of two cities

Earlier this month, India's IT city Bengaluru reeled under severe waterlogging, as incessant heavy rainfall lashed the city.

Waterlogging led to traffic jams and disruptions in several parts of Bengaluru, which is considered as the Silicon Valley of India.

The rains severely impacted Bengaluru, leaving overflowing lakes and stormwater drains that inundated low-lying areas.


Water-logging in certain localities were to such an extent that tractors and boats had to be used to ferry students and office goers in the morning.

Now seeing waterlogging scenes in Gurugram, some Twitter users can't resist but to compare the sorry state of affairs of the Millennium city with that of the IT city of India.

"Bengaluru just went to Gurugram and got flooded," wrote one user.

"After Bengaluru, now Gurugram is under water," commented another.


Another twitter user said its not about infrastructure but climate change.

"Then Bengaluru, now Gurugram. Blame climate change. Not fragile infra," he said.


"There is race between 2 IT cities Bengaluru and Gurugram. In traffic and deluge woes. Believe me they are giving a tough competition to each other. Yesterday NH8 had mile long traffic due to rains. Fortnight back pride of Bengaluru had luxury cars and houses floating under water," said one Sanjiv.

"Few days back it was Bengaluru and now Gurugram. Every Indian city faces this problem," rued a Twitter user.

Cases of waterlogging have been reported from several parts of Gurugram which is reeling under heavy rains.

Around 105 mm rainfall was recorded in Gurugram and Manesar on Thursday, which caused heavy waterlogging on the Delhi-Jaipur Expressway.

The commuters on the Expressway near Narsinghpur Chowk faced huge traffic congestion and some people were seen walking in knee-deep water.

Pictures and videos of the submerged Expressway and service lane at the Narsinghpur Chowk were widely circulated on social media.
