Fire haircut goes horribly wrong, Gujarat teen suffers severe burns

An 18-year-old suffered severe burn injuries after his "fire haircut" went horribly wrong at a salon in Vapi town of Gujarat's Valsad district on Wednesday.

The fire set on the young man's hair as part of the process went out of control and he got severe burn injuries on his neck and chest.

The teen was taken to a hospital immediately, and then referred to the Civil Hospital in Valsad, police said.

An 18-year-old teenager from Vapi tried to undertake the ‘fire haircut’. After the barber lit the teenager’s hair on fire, he lost control, and the fire spread to the boy’s neck and chest.

The police are investigating the accident. Karamsinh Makwana, the investigating officer, stated that they are trying to get statements from both the victim and the hairdresser.

The police also reported that the victim suffered severe burns on the upper portions of his body due to the chemical the hairdresser used. As such, they were trying to find which chemical was used.
