An Indian startup has introduced a new safety solution aimed at residents of high-rise buildings, offering a potential evacuation option during emergencies such as fires or earthquakes when lifts become inoperable.

The company, Skydrop, showcased its balcony-mounted safety cable system in a video demonstrating how the equipment could be used during an emergency. The firm said free training is provided to every user to help them understand the operation of the system.

Demonstration shows emergency evacuation process

In the demonstration, a company representative explained the functioning of the system after its installation on a residential balcony. Wearing a safety harness around his waist, the representative showed how a carabiner would be attached to an adult using the device.

According to the explanation in the video, an adult could use the system while carrying a child in their arms during an evacuation.

Company highlights low-maintenance design

During the demonstration, the representative said the system does not require chemical infusion, water spraying or extensive maintenance procedures. He added that the equipment only needs to be cleaned with a dry cloth.

Focus on safety in high-rise buildings

The company promoted the product as a potential emergency evacuation option for residents of high-rise buildings when every second is critical. The presentation also highlighted the need for residential societies to consider investments in safety infrastructure alongside luxury amenities.
