He shared that he was talking to Nagraj Manjule about how the success of his movie Sairat has destroyed the Marathi cinema. When people realised the possibility of making so much money, they stopped making their films and wanted to emulate Sairat. He also added that with the new pan-India trend, the scenario is similar, everybody is trying to make a pan-India movie, but the total success will be only 5-10%. Films like Kantara and Pushpa encourage people to bring forward their own stories. But anyone trying to emulate a movie like KGF 2 and its huge success is headed towards disaster. Bollywood destroyed itself riding this bandwagon. He said filmmakers have to find films which give them courage.
On his work front, Anurag directed the movie Dobaaraa this year. His movie Almost Pyar With DJ Mohabbat premiered at the 19th iteration of the Marrakech Film Festival and will be released in January next year. The director has also been chosen to play the role of Vijay Mallya in a new film, File No.323.
