Adidas has introduced 'Al Hilm', the ball that will be used in the FIFA World Cup 2022 semi-finals and final.

'Al Hilm' will take the place of 'Al Rihla', the match ball to used in the event until the quarterfinals. The new ball will use the same groundbreaking Adidas 'Connected Ball' technology as Al Rihla, which has assisted match officials in making faster and more accurate judgments during matches.

Al Hilm, which translates to "The Dream" in Arabic, is the first World Cup match ball made using water-based inks and glues and was created with the environment in mind.


According to FIFA's official website, Johannes Holzmuller, Director of Football Technology & Innovation, "linked ball technology has revealed fresh insights for the narrative around the unique events on the pitch at the World Cup."

Indeed, Adidas was able to confirm through the sensors within the ball, putting an end to a big debate that erupted when Cristiano Ronaldo claimed a headed goal, which FIFA officially gave to Bruno Fernades, and it was subsequently shown that Ronaldo had not touched the ball.
