Faulty ATM makes many rich by accident, people queue up to try their luck
A customer got the surprise of his life when he keyed in Rs 500 but was handed Rs 2,500 instead. He keyed in the same amount one more time and was granted another Rs 2,500.

This happened at an ATM of a private bank in Khaparkheda, located 30 kilometers from Nagpur city.
A customer got the surprise of his life when he keyed in Rs 500 but was handed Rs 2,500 instead. He keyed in the same amount one more time and was granted another Rs 2,500.
The news spread like wildfire and very soon a huge crowd was standing in a queue to try their luck. According to reports, many people availed the bounty till one bank customer alerted the police.
The police came and the machine was shut down, with people being barred from entering the ATM and withdrawing cash.
On inspection, the glitch was found to be a result of human error — the dispensing tray for Rs 100 notes had mistakenly been loaded with Rs 500 notes during the ATM refill. Therefore, every time a person keyed in Rs 500, the machine would dispense 5 notes of Rs 500 denomination instead of Rs 100 ones.
The cause of the glitch was divulged by the Khaparkheda police station on inquiry. Till the time of writing this report, no case has been registered against any individual over the incident.
