Father kills 12-year-old daughter over candy theft allegation, arrested

Police on Sunday arrested a man for allegedly beating his 12-year-old daughter to death with a stick after she was accused of stealing a packet of candy from a local grocery store, officials told PTI.

The accused, identified as Pushpendra alias Pappu Sharma, was taken into custody following a complaint filed by his wife, Aarti, in Ratanpur village on March 27. According to the complaint, the man assaulted their daughter with a stick, resulting in her death.

Police said the incident was triggered after a shopkeeper informed Pushpendra that his daughter had allegedly taken a packet of candy from his shop, which enraged him.


Based on the complaint, an FIR was registered at the Narora police station, and the accused was arrested on Sunday.

Station House Officer Ganga Prasad Arya said the stick used in the crime has been recovered at the instance of the accused.
