Fans are not so pleased with JLo taking the Affleck surname

Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck were wed last weekend to the delight of their fans but news of her taking his surname struck as a sour note for many.

The two first dated in the 2000's and even got engaged in 2004,but went their separate ways a year later before coming together again last year. Lopez, 52, and Affleck, 49 got married in an intimate ceremony in London on July 16.

A tweet of the record at the Clark county clerk's office revealed Jennifer was taking the name Jennifer Affleck.


It came as a disappointment for many who over the years have got so used to the name JLo

"I am shook - she took his name!!," tweeted a user. "Why would JLo change her name? She has a whole career invested in her birth name!! She needs to keep her name," another wrote.

Some wondered whether JLo will now be called J-Af

Jennifer has been married three times before - to Ojani Noa from 1997-1998, to Cris Judd from 2001-2003, and to singer Marc Anthony in 2004. She shares 14-year-old twins with Anthony. They split in 2014.

Affleck was married to Jennifer Garner in 2005, with whom he shares three children. They divorced in 2018.
