Every year, International Youth Day is observed on August 12 around the globe. The purpose of the day is to draw attention to a given set of cultural and legal issues surrounding youngsters. It also aims to raise awareness about the challenges and hardships faced by the youth all across the world.

All persons between the ages of 15 and 24 qualify as youth, and according to statistics, half of the people on our planet are 30 or younger, and this is expected to reach 57% by the end of 2030.

International Youth Day 2022: History
The United Nations General Assembly began efforts to focus on the youth in 1965. International Youth Day was first celebrated on August 12, 2000, after the UN General Assembly passed a resolution accepting the recommendation made by the World Conference of Ministers Responsible for Youth in Lisbon in 1998. The Assembly recommended that public information activities be organized to support the Day as a way to promote better awareness of the World Programme of Action for Youth, adopted by the General Assembly in 1996.

The objective behind this year's theme is to spread the essage that action is needed across all generations, including youth, to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals. It also aims to raise awareness about ageism, that has a negative aim on young and old persons alike.
