'Every single one of them are Indians': US tourist shares 'wild' experience of Heathrow staff in viral video
A US tourist's Instagram video sparked debate after he observed a lack of British workers at London's airport. He noted the prevalence of Indian staff, praising their service but questioning the absence of native Britons in frontline roles. The vi...

Posted by the user “Immigrateful,” the clip has already racked up more than 5.5 lakh views and counting. Overlay text on the clip bluntly stated: “No British employees in the entire London airport. Zero.” The caption simply read, “Not a one.”
“I just landed in London. I’m at the airport. And I keep walking around the centre of the airport where the restaurants are and everything. I don’t see any British people working. Not one. Every single one of them are Indians. Every single one of them,” the American tourist said in the video.
Though he complimented their politeness and efficiency, he was baffled by what he saw as the total absence of native Britons.
He insisted his comments weren’t meant to be offensive. He countered that it isn't racism but a fair question about workplace representation.
Drawing a parallel with his home country, he added that as an immigrant himself, he expects to see locals working frontline jobs when visiting any nation.
“Especially because I’m an immigrant myself. If I walk around the United States, I want to see Americans. I don’t want every person that I see and works to be somebody else," he said.

The post immediately split opinions online. Many users pushed back, arguing that London’s diverse workforce is something to celebrate. One person wrote, “This is what diversity looks like. London is multicultural and that’s a strength.” Another added, “If staff are doing their jobs well, why should it matter what their background is?”
Another user hit the colonial nerve and said, "That's how Indians felt in India when the British was everywhere in the country, looting of course," while another said, "Stay safe and watch out don't get robbed."
Others, however, felt the traveller raised a fair point. “He’s just asking a valid question. It is unusual not to see locals working in such a major airport,” one user commented.
Heathrow, among the busiest airports in the world, has a workforce of over 76,000 people drawn from a wide range of ethnic backgrounds. Data from the UK’s Office for National Statistics shows that around 17% of the country’s overall workforce is made up of foreign-born employees, with Indians representing a significant portion of that group.
