Hollywood actor Hannah Einbinder used her Emmy Awards acceptance speech on Sunday to express solidarity with Gaza and with migrants affected by the Trump administration’s immigration policies. Einbinder won the Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series for her role in Hacks. At the end of her speech, she wore an Artists4Ceasefire pin and said: “Go Birds, f*** ICE, and free Palestine.” Her reference to “Birds” pointed to the Philadelphia Eagles’ win over the Kansas City Chiefs earlier in the day.

During the broadcast, CBS and JioHotstar muted the expletive and briefly cut to the audience before returning to her remarks.

Other political messages at the event

Another Hacks star, Meg Stalter, also highlighted the conflict by carrying a black leather bag marked with “CEASE FIRE!” written in bold white tape.

Einbinder’s past activism

Einbinder has often used her social media to highlight the conflict in Gaza. She recently shared posts from Artists4Ceasefire, a group urging action against “unprecedented levels of starvation” in the region. In July, she signed a statement calling for an immediate ceasefire, unrestricted aid for civilians, and the release of hostages.

Reaction during ceremony

Following Einbinder’s speech, host Nate Bargatze remarked on her choice of words, joking: “She also cursed I’ll start a swear jar real fast,” linking it to his ongoing Boys and Girls Club fundraiser that was tied to speech durations.

Category competition

In the Supporting Actress category, Einbinder won over last year’s winner Liza Colon-Zayas, The Studio’s Catherine O’Hara and Kathryn Hahn, Abbott Elementary’s Janelle James and Sheryl Lee Ralph, and Shrinking’s Jessica Williams.
