Elon Musk shares hilarious meme on US shooting down Chinese 'spy' balloon; Check post here

Elon Musk responded on Sunday to the destruction of a suspected Chinese spy balloon by a US fighter plane that had been flying over US territory for several days.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk took to Twitter to share a meme after the United States shot down an alleged 'Chinese spy balloon' off the coast of the United States. The meme depicted the flying house from the 2009 animated film 'Up' being shot down. Musk tweeted a response to a BBC article about the US shooting down an airship over the Atlantic.

Several Twitter users replied to Elon Musk's post with more hilarious memes, while some called the SpaceX CEO a "comedian". A user wrote, "Very cheeky of you, Elon Musk." Another user said that Elon is a better comedian than most on SNL.

The Biden administration praised the Pentagon for shooting down an alleged Chinese spy balloon off the coast of the United States on Saturday, but China reacted angrily, expressing "strong dissatisfaction" and threatening "necessary responses."

The balloon flew over North America for several days before being shot down by a missile fired from an F-22 fighter jet off the coast of South Carolina, according to Pentagon officials. It crashed into relatively shallow water just 47 feet (14 metres) deep.

"The operation was a "deliberate and legal action in response to China's "unacceptable violation of our sovereignty," according to US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin.

In a statement issued Sunday morning, China's Ministry of Foreign Affairs blasted the US action, saying the downing of the "civilian" plane was "clearly overreacting and seriously violating international practice."

China has also stated that the balloon seen flying over Latin America is Chinese and was incensed by Washington's decision to shoot down what it claims was a weather surveillance aircraft that had gone off the rails last week.
