Greta Gerwig's 'Barbie' film has made waves at the box office, setting multiple records; however, it hasn't been without its share of criticism. Some have raised concerns about perceived anti-male feminism in the movie.

Among the notable voices expressing their dissatisfaction with the film is Tesla CEO, Elon Musk. Taking to Twitter, Musk voiced his opinion, sarcastically remarking, "If you take a shot every time Barbie says the word ‘patriarchy,’ you will pass out before the movie ends.” His tweet was in response to a humorous Barbenheimer meme, which drew a comparison between Twitter and Barbie, and Musk's new social network, named "Oppenheimer."

Joining the chorus of criticism, Indian TV actor Juhi Parmar took a dig at the 'Barbie' movie on her Instagram. The 'Kumkum' star expressed her shock at the film's "inappropriate language and sexual connotations," revealing that she had to leave the theater just 10-15 minutes into the screening. Parmar highlighted how many parents followed suit, accusing the filmmakers of deceptive marketing.

As concerns grew about the movie's suitability for its target audience, Parmar questioned why the creators included content that may not be appropriate for children, even those above the age of 13. She conveyed her disappointment as a concerned parent, wishing for a more idealized and wholesome portrayal of Barbie for her child, who adores the iconic doll.

In the movie, Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling take on the lead roles of Barbie and Ken, respectively. The film, directed by Greta Gerwig, hit theaters on July 21 and has since garnered both praise and backlash.

While the film's commercial success cannot be denied, the controversy surrounding its themes and content continues to fuel discussions. Gerwig's reimagining of the classic doll's world seems to have sparked debates about feminism, representation, and the responsibility of filmmakers when catering to young audiences.

'Barbie' has undoubtedly made a splash in the entertainment industry, but its journey has been marked by polarizing opinions.
