Several media outlets had reported that Musk is building an Austin Executive Airport with 130,000 square feet of community hangar space and a 6,025-foot runway.
World's richest man Elon Musk has rejected media reports about building a private airport, saying it "would be silly".

The Tesla and SpaceX CEO took to Twitter to slam reports that he was planning to develop a new private airport.

"Not true. Tesla is 5 mins from Austin International airport. It would be silly to build another private airport, however, the existing commercial airport needs another runway, as Austin is growing fast!" Musk wrote.


Several media outlets had reported that Musk is building an Austin Executive Airport, with 130,000 square feet of community hangar space and a 6,025-foot runway.

The reports said the airport will be somewhere east of Austin, Texas near Bastrop. Tesla , which was founded in Carlos California and susbsequently relocated to Palo Alto, now has its global headquarters in Austin.
