Ekta Kapoor supports Akshay Kumar as his ‘Selfiee’ fights for Box Office success, calls him ‘extremely reliable’
Reacting to the failure of 'Selfiee', producer Ekta Kapoor backed Akshay and wrote a hard-hitting message.

Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar's recent release 'Selfiee' failed to hold the audience in the theatre halls. The movie which also features Emraan Hashmi opened with only Rs 2.5 crore on day 1 of its release. Several people are now questioning the actor's choice as he featured in back-to-back flops lately. However, reacting to the situation, famous producer Ekta Kapoor backed Akshay and wrote a hard-hitting message.
Taking to Instagram, Ekta penned a strong note which reads "Akshay is among those actors who are extremely reliable, dependable when it comes to working. A major low in itself is the depressing tabloid culture of lowering someone in order to highlight their weak areas."
The producer also said that this is extremely insensitive towards the person who is already facing a tough time. Ekta's post comes just a day after Akshay and Emran's 'Selfiee' release. While the movie was considered to be one of the highly anticipated films of the year, it couldn't manage to bring massive footfall on the big screens.
Taran Adarsh, who is one of the trade analysts, described the first day of the film as 'disastrous' due to its incredibly low numbers.
Taking to Twitter, the trade analyst wrote, "Selfie had a terrible first day. It has a shocking impact on people in the industry. One of the worst openings for a movie with a lot of big people connected. Fri. Rs 255 cr+ India business."
Akshay Kumar's last hit was Sooryavanshi which was released in 2021. The movie was helmed by Rohit Shetty and also featured Katrina Kaif, Ranveer Singh and Ajay Devgn in lead roles. Akshay will be now seen in films such as Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, Oh My God 2 and Soorarai Pottru (Remake version).
