ECI UP SIR Draft Roll: How many voters were deleted and retained?
According to Uttar Pradesh Chief Electoral Officer Navdeep Rinwa, the Election Commission of India retained 81.30 per cent of voters in the draft electoral roll following the SIR exercise.- Total voters before SIR: 15.44 crore
- Names retained: 12.55 crore
- Names deleted: 2.89 crore
Rinwa explained that deletions were made after verification of nearly 12.5 crore enumeration forms, citing the following reasons:
- 46.23 lakh deceased voters
- 2.17 crore voters who have shifted, are missing or were absent
- 25.47 lakh duplicate entries
Why ECI delayed the UP SIR draft voter list release
The ECI had originally planned to publish the draft roll on December 31. However, the Election Commission of India postponed the release to January 6, 2026, to allow:- Creation of over 15,000 new polling booths

Voters can check their details through official ECI platforms using the following steps:Online method
- Visit voters.eci.gov.in and go to the download electoral roll section.
- Select state and year of revision.
- Download the pdf electoral roll relevant to your assembly constituency.
- Do a manual search in the pdf.
Offline method
- Visit your local polling station, where physical copies of the ECI draft roll are available
- Contact your Booth Level Officer (BLO) to check the ASD (Absent, Shifted, Dead) list
ECI UP SIR Draft Roll: What to do if your name is missing
The Election Commission of India has opened the claims and objections window from January 6 to February 6, 2026. Voters can submit:- Form 6: If your name is missing or you are a new voter (18+ as of January 1, 2026)
- Form 7: To object to incorrect or ineligible entries
- Form 8: To correct errors in name, address, photo or other details
Unmapped voters alert
