The Election Commission of India (ECI) is set to release the draft electoral rolls for West Bengal on Tuesday
Ahead of the publication of the draft electoral rolls of West Bengal, the Election Commission of India (ECI) on Tuesday morning released the names of deleted voters on its website. The list features voters whose names were included in the electoral rolls of the State in 2025 but were deleted from the draft rolls of 2026, according to PTI. The list is currently available on the commission's portal link ceowestbengal.wb.gov.in/asd_sir.

India's voter rolls are undergoing SIR, a nationwide exercise to ensure accuracy. The Booth Level Officers (BLO) visit homes of voters with updated lists, seeking confirmations and corrections. While Election Commission calls it crucial for democracy, political parties allege it's a politically motivated move to alter electoral outcomes.

More than 58.08 lakh names have already being identified as excludable for various reasons. Of the 58.08 lakh potential excludable voters in West Bengal, the number of deceased voters stands at 24.18 lakh, followed by the number of shifted voters, that is, voters who have permanently shifted to another place, at around 20 lakh. The number of untraceable voters stands at around 12 lakh. The combined number of duplicate voters having names in two places, as well as voters deemed to be excludable for other reasons, stands at 1.37 lakh.
