With plenty of hype and expectation, Dwayne Johnson's Black Adam was released a day earlier in India before the global launch. The film has a new group of superheroes of DCEU, unique background, and several twists to the tale. The film did have a good opening (of about Rs 6 crores) which compares favourably with another superhero film, The Batman, which made Rs.7 crore on day one earlier this year.

Black Adam, however, lags behind Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (Rs 27 crores) and Thor: Love and Thunder (Rs.18 crores), both Marvel releases. The top-grosser was Spider-Man: No way Home (Rs 32 Crores).

What the film is about (Spoiler Alert)

'Black Adam' tells the origin story of the titular antihero, one of the most powerful metahumans of the DC universe.

Dwayne Johnson portrays the strong anti-hero and sworn enemy of Shazam, who was played by Zachary Levi in a 2019 origin film and in the upcoming sequel, "Shazam: Fury of the Gods," coming next year.

The character, buried for several thousand years, wakes up to save an archaeologist in danger. Black Adam follows his style of fighting evil and takes on the Justice Society of America with his version of justice. The film proceeds with the antihero and the superheroes' defeat of the real enemy, Sabbat.
