Filmmaker Siddharth Anand has revealed that the Burj Khalifa Boulevard was shut down for the first time ever to aid the shooting of ‘Pathaan.’ In a newly released behind-the-scenes video, the director went candid about his shooting experience in Dubai and the support he received from the local government.

Reportedly, ‘Pathaan’ featured an action-packed fight scene between Shah Rukh Khan and John Abraham in and around Dubai’s Burj Khalifa Boulevard. Speaking about this, Siddharth confirmed that the action scene was an ‘impossible’ task for the team. He proudly claimed that no Hollywood film has ever achieved this milestone. The filmmaker, in the BTS video, explained the challenges of shooting the thrilling car-chase sequence between Shah Rukh Khan and John Abraham.

In one of the scenes shot in Dubai, John stands in the middle of the road and fires at Pathaan’s vehicle. Another scene where John and Shah Rukh were atop a moving train while two helicopters flew over them was also shot in Dubai.


He accepted that shooting these powerful action scenes was quite difficult, but the Dubai police and government authorities helped them. Siddharth said that his friends who lived near the boulevard region received circulars informing them about the closure time of the boulevard. He added that his friends were shocked when they learnt that the Burj Khalifa boulevard was closed for ‘Pathaan’s’ shooting schedule.

Shah Rukh Khan thanked the Dubai government for its support during ‘Pathaan’s’ shooting. The megastar addressed it as the most international film-producing destination. He said that Dubai has been very kind towards him and the people from the Indian film industry.
