Drishti IAS founder Vikas Divyakirti faces criticism for comparing Sita with a 'ghee licked by dog'

Founder and owner of popular UPSC coaching institute Drishti IAS, Vikas Divyakirti, is facing severe criticism after after a video went viral on social media in which he was seen making some 'derogatory remarks' against Lord Ram and Goddess Sita.

The video was shared by RSS leader Sadhvi Prachi on Twitter with BanDrishtiIAS hashtag. Divyakriti can be heard comparing Sita with a ghee contaminated by a dog in the video.



“I (Ram) did not fight this war for you (Sita) but for the respect of my lineage. As ghee licked by a dog is not fit for eating, you Sita, are not fit for me.” coach Divyakirti was heard saying quoting a Sanskrit author. The video appears to be shot in a coaching classroom.

The statement has sparked sharp criticism from various quarters with some even demanding a ban on the coaching institute for hurting Hindu sentiments. #BanDrishtiIAS has been trending on Twitter since Friday morning after the video went viral.

Some Twitter user even demanded strict action for his remarks.

“Coaching institutes discussing sensitive religious texts with negative comments despite strong observation by recent Higher Courts. This must be investigated with FIR," a Twitter user said.

However, a few students have come in support of the Divyakriti and have floated a trend #ISupportDrishtiIAS. A Twitter user posted the full video of the statement and said that, “If you want #BanDrishtiIAS, then prove that Vikas Divya Kirti’s statement is wrong."


Some supporters even claimed that the remarks are written in the Valmiki Ramayan.
