DRDO Internship 2026: DMRL invites UG, PG students for paid internship; check how to apply, eligibility, stipend and more

The Defence Metallurgical Research Laboratory (DMRL), Hyderabad, a premier laboratory under the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), has invited applications from eligible Indian students for its six-month paid internship programme. The internship offers a monthly stipend of Rs 5,000 and is open to final-year undergraduate and postgraduate engineering and science students.

Eligible candidates must submit their applications by July 15, 2026, while the internship is scheduled to begin from August 5, 2026.

Eligibility criteria

Applications are open to final-year students pursuing full-time BE, BTech, ME, MTech or MSc programmes in the specified disciplines from AICTE or UGC-approved colleges and universities.


Undergraduate engineering students must have secured a minimum CGPA of 7.0 on a 10-point scale in all previous semesters. Postgraduate engineering and science students must have obtained at least 70% marks in their first-year examination.

Applicants must be below 28 years of age as on July 31, 2026.

Internship duration and stipend

The internship will run for six months. Students who successfully complete the programme will receive a completion certificate after submitting their project report, clearing the project evaluation and fulfilling all required formalities.

The stipend will be paid only for the six-month internship period. It will be released in two instalments, with the first payment after three months and the second after successful completion of six months. Any extension beyond the prescribed duration will not be eligible for additional stipend.

The stipend will be transferred directly to the student's bank account.

Application process

Candidates must email a scanned copy of the completed application form along with the prescribed reference or request letter from their college to hrd.dmrl@gov.in. Hard-copy applications will not be accepted.

The email subject should read: "Application for paid internship 2026, DMRL Hyderabad (BRANCH CODE: ___)".

There is no application fee. Applications received after the deadline or submitted with incomplete or incorrect information will not be considered.

Documents required with application

Applicants must submit:

• Filled application form
• Marksheets of previous semesters or academic years
• Aadhaar card copy
• College reference or request letter in the prescribed format
• Brief bio-data of up to 300 words highlighting achievements

Selection process

Selection will be based entirely on merit and may include an online or offline interview or interaction, if required.

Only shortlisted candidates will be informed about the joining process through the email address provided in their application. No communication will be sent to candidates who are not selected.

Documents required at the time of joining

Selected candidates must produce original copies of the college reference letter, bonafide certificate and No Objection Certificate (NOC). They must also submit police verification, undertakings related to the Official Secrets Act, 1923, and Ministry of Defence IT rules, bank account details, three passport-size photographs and original academic documents for verification, along with their Aadhaar card and college identity card.
