In the complaint, CSK said the playing of the song track "Dosa, idli, sambar, chutney, chutney" during the match was "not in good taste." The song is frequently used in memes that play on South Indian stereotypes. The song in question, originally composed by musician Gana Appu, has been associated with CSK-RCB contests and frequently circulates on social media.
CSK managing director Kasi Viswanathan told The Indian Express: “The DJs are usually around to support the home team. But at the Chinnaswamy Stadium, it was different. Certain comments were made against our players. Considering it, we have written to the BCCI to have a look into it.”

‘Dosa, idli, sambar, chutney, chutney’
The issue dates back to an incident in 2025 involving RCB player Jitesh Sharma, who was mocked by Chennai’s DJ after a video of him singing the same song went viral on social media. Jitesh Sharma sang “Dosa, idli, sambar, chutney” ahead of a match in Chennai, which drew backlash from CSK fans.During the return fixture at Chepauk, CSK’s DJ played the same track when Jitesh was dismissed. Following that incident, CSK management clearly instructed to avoid any remarks or actions that could target opposition players or fans. “Since then, there has been no repeat. The DJ is not supposed to make comments on opposition players, and we are fortunate to have a fanbase that supports us in great numbers,” CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan said.
The controversy comes at a time when the rivalry between Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Chennai Super Kings has intensified, with RCB winning four consecutive matches against CSK. On the field, RCB further asserted their dominance with a commanding 43-run victory in a high-scoring clash.
Apart from the song, CSK also raised objections over remarks made by the stadium DJ following the dismissal of CSK players. The team management expressed concern that the DJ’s comments crossed the line, arguing that the role should be to enhance the match atmosphere rather than target or ridicule the opposition.
