“Don’t come to USA it is dead now”: Student abroad adviser says he can’t recommend US anymore, cites H-1B visa fee, CPT changes and growing job market concerns

An Instagram post shared by Anush Kinusa where he is saying people don't come to the US anymore has gone viral. He titled the Instagram reel captioning “Do not come to the US anymore.”

He started by saying “Brother, USA is dead now. Genuinely, I request you with folded hands. I pray, do not come to America right now. Study abroad destinations have completely died out, okay. If you don't know, the CPT program has been stopped now.”

CPT Program Stopped, US Job Market Tougher

“The CPT program, through which children used to get internships. So that when they apply in the job market, they have some US experience. With internships, it used to be easy to convert. Without it, getting a job in the US has become almost impossible, okay. That has been stopped now.”

Concerns Over H-1B And New Fees

“A new fee of $100,000 has been proposed for OPD. A fee of $100,000 has been proposed again for H1B. They are introducing a proper law. The 60-day grace period for H1B. A law has also been introduced to ban it.”

“I Can't Recommend US Anymore”

“It's not worth it anymore. Not at all. I am very sad making this, because I personally helped students, and I can't recommend US anymore.”

Alternative Study Destinations

“If you want to come into business programs right now, then absolutely do not come. Please go to France, INSEAD, HEC Paris, ESSEC Paris. Oxford, Cambridge, go over there. Canada, you can probably try. Canada isn't that amazing either.”

Tech Students Can Consider Germany And Switzerland

“I now fold my hands and plead with you, it's dead. It's completely dead, okay. If you are in tech, you can try Germany, you can try Switzerland. You won't get paid as much here as you would in the US, but job can be found.”

“Please Don't Come To The US For Now”

“Okay. I am requesting please don't come to the US. 2 years later if this climate change happened, then again in terms of salaries, in terms of growth opportunities, in terms of overall opportunity, nothing is better than the US.

“But if they directly chase you away or you are uncertain, companies are uncertain, so what will you do? Please avoid it for now, okay.”
