US President Donald Trump emerged as one of the biggest talking points after Spain defeated Argentina 1-0 in the FIFA World Cup 2026 final at the New York New Jersey Stadium on Sunday.

Trump stood alongside the Spain players during the trophy presentation and remained on the podium as the team celebrated their historic victory. The moment quickly went viral on social media.



Trump only moved away from the centre of the podium after FIFA president Gianni Infantino pulled him aside, allowing Spain captain Rodri to lift the World Cup trophy alongside his teammates.

Trump also presented the FIFA World Cup trophy to the Spanish players after the final. He arrived at the stadium by helicopter and congratulated the players with handshakes as they walked across the stage before joining Spain’s squad during the celebrations.
