Dogs maul to death toddler in Hyderabad, 4-year-old in UP's Deoria

In two separate cases, a two-year-old girl and a four-year-old boy died after being attacked by stray dogs.

In the Hyderabad incident, which took place on April 12, the toddler was playing outside an under construction apartment building when she was attacked by the dogs. According to police, the victim and her sister were attacked by two dogs while they were playing at the construction site where the children's father, a native of Chhattisgarh, has been working.

The child was rescued and taken to a local hospital; however, due to the severity of the injuries, she was referred to another government hospital, where she was declared dead. They said that a case was registered, and an investigation is underway.


In a similar distressing incident, a one-year-old boy was mauled to death by a pack of stray dogs while the child's father and other family members were asleep in their hut in Shamshabad in February this year.

In the Deoria incident, the victim belonged to a nomadic family that had been residing near the temple in a temporary shanty for the past several months. On Saturday, while the girl's family members were out searching for work, stray dogs attacked the girl as she followed them.

Despite efforts by bystanders to chase away the dogs, the girl sustained severe injuries and died on the spot.

However, these are not isolated incidents. Several such cases have been reported in the past year. In December 2023, a 10-year-old boy was attacked by a pet dog in Borabanda, sustaining minor injuries. Similarly, a two-year-old girl was attacked by stray dogs while playing in a park in Nizampet. In July 2023, a nine-year-old boy was severely bitten by a stray dog in Kukatpally, while an eleven-year-old boy faced a similar fate in Suraram in June 2023. Additionally, in March 2023, a six-year-old boy was chased and attacked by stray dogs in Nacharam while retrieving his paper plane.
