There’s a common assumption that all professional athletes, especially cricketers, follow a high-protein non-vegetarian diet. However, a former Team India chef has revealed that this is far from the truth. Indian cricketers have diverse food habits, shaped by personal choices, culture, and lifestyle.

In a candid conversation, Chef Arun clarified that not all Indian cricketers eat non-vegetarian food. According to him, every player has unique preferences, and many follow vegetarian or simple diets despite the physical demands of the sport.

One of the most surprising revelations was about Virender Sehwag. Known for his explosive batting style, Sehwag is a strict vegetarian and does not consume eggs or non-veg at all.

Chef Arun also shared insights about Rohit Sharma’s early days. Back then, Rohit didn’t even eat eggs and preferred very simple meals like dal and rice. The chef also said that he could eat dal chawal for breakfast also. It was his favourite.

When it comes to Rahul Dravid and Sourav Ganguly, both cricket legends had a special liking for South Indian food. Dishes like idli, dosa, and sambar were among their favorites.

Chef Arun further revealed that Rahul Dravid preferred simple South Indian meals and ate in very small portions. According to him, Dravid’s meal would often be just one idli, a small dosa, and some sambar, light, balanced, and sufficient for him.
