'Dirty Hindu', 'disgusting dog': Indian-American racially abused by fellow Indian in California

Days after four Indian-American women were racially abused, there is another video, this time of an Indian-origin man being subjected to racist abuse by a compatriot in the US. He faced a slew of racist slurs like "dirty Hindu" and a "disgusting dog," in the US state of California

The man identified as Krishnan Jayaraman was verbally attacked by a man named Tejinder Singh in the Taco Bell in Fremont on August 21, NBC News reported

The entire episode was recorded and lasted over eight minutes. In the video, Tejinder can be seen saying, “You are disgusting, dog. You look nasty. Don't come out in public like this again.”


Tejinder called him a "dirty Hindu". It appears as if he spit at Jayaraman twice in the video.

He was also seen saying: "...this ain't India! You...India up, and now you're...America up,” the report said.

Tejinder was reportedly charged with a hate crime in violation of civil rights, assault, and disturbing the peace by offensive language, the Fremont Police Department said.

He was listed as "Asian/Indian" in charging documents, the report said.

The Fremont Police Department (CA) said in a statement, "On August 21, 2022, at approximately 8:20 p.m., an employee at a fast food restaurant located in the 40000 block of Grimmer Blvd contacted Fremont Police Department to report a disturbance between two customers. ...Upon arrival, officers separated both parties and interviewed them. One man stated that the other involved party was verbally abusing him."

The police added, "While interviewing the second man, it was confirmed that a disparaging comment about a particular religion was stated during the verbal argument. At the conclusion of this incident, it was determined one male used extremely offensive and hurtful language toward the other male."

On Friday, four Indian-American women were racially abused and smacked by a Mexican-American woman in the US state of Texas who hurled racist slurs at them that they are "ruining" America and should "go back to India".

The incident took place on Wednesday night in a parking lot in Dallas, Texas. The woman, identified as Esmeralda Upton, has been arrested.
