Director Balaji Mohan confirms marriage to actor Dhanya Balakrishna

'Kadhalil Sodhappuvadhu Eppadi' director Balaji Mohan was rumoured to have discreetly married actress Dhanya Balakrishna, with Telugu TV star Kalpika Ganesh even admitting - in a TV appearance - that Balaji Mohan secretly married actress Dhanya Balakrishna.

While both Balaji Mohan and Dhanya Balakrishna had stayed silent on the subject, it appears that the filmmaker now has officially announced the union.

Kalpika Ganesh had claimed, in several appearances, that Balaji Mohan is rigidly supervising his wife's i.e. Dhanya Balakrishna works and acts in charge of all the professional choices she makes.


In light of such statements made by Kalpika Ganesh, director Balaji Mohan had filed a suit against her under Section 499 of the Indian Penal Code, accusing her of defamation, in the Madras High Court. The director has alleged that she was making defamatory remarks about him and his personal life.

Balaji Mohan submitted to the court that Kalpika Ganesh had released several YouTube videos which were interlaced with defamatory comments about him and his wife, Dhanya Balakrishna.

A bench consisting of Justice Senthilkumar Ramamurthy took cognizance of the instant petition and passed restraining orders against Kalpika Ganesh. The actress was barred from further engaging in the promulgation of such defamatory remarks. The matter was heard and was adjourned for January 20, 2023.

Balaji Mohan and Actress Dhanya Balakrishna got married in the month of January 2020. This union is the second marriage of Director Balaji Mohan, he was earlier married to Aruna and their marriage lasted four years (2012 to 2016). Balaji Mohan has directed films like ‘Maari’, ‘Maari 2’, and ‘Vaayai Moodi Pesavum’.

Dhanya Balakrishna is an actress who predominantly works in the Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam film industries. She has starred in films like 'Software Sudheer', 'Carbon' and 'Raju Gari Gadhi'.

Kalpika Ganesh is an actress from Hyderabad who has been working in the Telugu film industry since 2009. She marked her debut in 'Pranayam' in the year 2009. She has been featured in several movies and web series like 'Loser', 'Sita on the Road', 'Parole' and 'Eakam'.
