As per reports, Imtiaz will start shooting the movie on Sunday, December 11, in Mumbai. Both the leading actors have been reportedly attended several workshops to dig into the personalities they’d be playing on the screen.
Who were Amarjot Kaur and Amar Singh Chamkila?
Amarjot Kaur and Amar Singh Chamkila were popular Punjabi singers. Amar was regarded as one of Punjab's greatest and most influential artists and stage performers. He was infamous for promoting the Khalistan movement and gun culture in Punjab through his music, though he also wrote and sang devotional songs.
Amar Singh and his wife Amarjot were brutally gunned down by a gang of motorcyclists in Meshampur, Punjab, on March 8, 1988. The duo and their band members were gunned down by several rounds of bullets. Strangely, no arrests were made in the case, and the assassination remains an unsolved crime to date.
Many believe that the police administration was behind their assassination because Amar promoted the Khalistan Movement and gun violence. Another theory suggests it was “honour killing” by their family for bringing bad repute to the family.
