DigiYatra: Facial recognition technology is now available at these Indian airports

With the assistance of a facial recognition software known as "DigiYatra," you will be able to sail through the process of flying, which will now be paperless and contactless.

In order to simplify air travel, the government has made certain airports paperless.Under this drive, air terminals will utilise a facial acknowledgment programming called 'DigiYatra' for passage. As a result, passengers will not be required to carry their boarding pass and ID.


The initiative will be launched in its first phase at seven airports, beginning with three—Delhi, Bengaluru, and Varanasi and moving on to four—Hyderabad, Kolkata, Pune, and Vijayawada by March 2023.



India will now join the likes of Heathrow airport in London and Atlanta in the United States as world-class airports thanks to Digi Yatra. Highlighting the advantages of this technology, Jyotiraditya Madhavrao Scindia Minister, Civil Aviation, gave an example of Dubai Airport, where this technology saved up to 40% of passenger time, to explain the advantages of Digi Yatra. At the Atlanta Airport, a similar technology saved nine minutes per aircraft.


A one-time registration on the Digi Yatra app with Aadhar-based validation and a self-image capture is required to use this feature. If you are flying through Delhi, Bangalore, or Varanasi, you can use these steps to get a paperless and hassle-free entry:

Step 1:The DigiYatra app can be downloaded from the app store.

Step 2:Sign in with your information on the DigiYatra app.

Step 3:Provide the necessary information based on Aadhar.

Step 4:To access the DigiYatra app, click your selfie.

Step 5:To update your boarding pass in the app, simply scan it.

Step 6:The airport (Delhi, Bangalore, or Varanasi) will have access to your credentials.Step 7:Scan the boarding pass with a barcode at the electronic gate of the airport.

Step 8:At the e-gate, the "facial recognition system" will validate your identity as well as your travel documents.

Step 9:You will now be permitted to use the e-gate to enter the airport.

Step 10:After going through the usual security clearance procedures, you can now board the plane.



India is establishing a new global standard for a hassle-free, health-safe, and seamless airport process with Digi Yatra.
