Of late, Bollywood's new film entries have all been big budget spectacles, with the likes of Brahmastra, Shamshera, Saaho, Raadhe Shyam and Zero all coming out in the last few years. Of those, barely a couple have reached blockbuster status.

But with regional projects like KGF and Kantara breaking the box office, Hindi director Vivek Agnihotri slammed Bollywood for not understanding simple math.

Agnihotri directed The Kashmir Files and is not one to eat his words. He has always been vocal when it comes to Bollywood, dishing out criticism when he's wanted to.

Referring to hit movies like Rocketry, The Kasmir Files, and Kantara he said these movies had no marketing, stars, or distribution. However, they went on to earn a total of Rs 800 crores while the production cost was less than Rs 75 crores in total.

He wondered whether Bollywood was dumb, deaf, or blind. His opinion comes at a time when Kantara continues to gain massively at the box office. Already having grossed around Rs. 250 crores, it is likely to run for a while more with word-of-mouth publicity doing wonders for the Kannada film. It has already become one of the highest-grossing movies in the language, outperforming movies with big stars and budgets.
