Dhurandhar actor Rakesh Bedi says he visited Javed Akhtar home for free alcohol, shares Saath Saath payment story
Actor Rakesh Bedi is experiencing a career resurgence with his role in the hit film Dhurandhar: The Revenge. Filmmaker Farah Khan recently reminisced about their early days, recalling Bedi's frequent visits to her family home during his FTII days....

Recently, filmmaker Farah Khan visited Rakesh Bedi’s home along with her chef Dilip and shared a video on her YouTube channel. During the visit, Farah introduced him to viewers as “Dhurandhar ka main hero” and noted that although they have known each other for years, they were meeting again after a long gap.
Recalling her teenage years, Farah said she was around 15 when Bedi, then about 25, was studying at the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII).

She fondly remembered those days, saying, “FTII se yeh log roz aate the Javed uncle aur Honey aunty ke ghar free ka khaana aur free ki daaru peene, aate the wahan par toh we used to meet all of them.”
Farah further said Bedi often came with a close group of friends that included Farooq Shaikh, Satish Shah, Neena Gupta and Supriya Pathak. She added that it was an old friendship and that they were meeting after a long time, while Bedi noted that the routine continued for several years.
At present, Bedi is receiving strong audience response for his role in Dhurandhar: The Revenge, where he plays Pakistani politician Jameel Jamali. His dialogues from the film have gone viral, contributing to its box office success. The film has earned over Rs 1,750 crore worldwide and Rs 1,000 crore net in India.

Early career struggles and unpaid work
During the interaction, Farah Khan also spoke about the initial phase of their careers, recalling that actors like Rakesh Bedi were not always paid for their work in films.Rakesh Bedi responded, “The times were different.”
“I did not even get paid for the conveyance. In fact, many a times, we used to take food from our home,” he said.
Saath Saath revolves around Avinash Verma, an idealistic young man, and his wife Geetanjali Gupta, daughter of a textile mill owner, as they navigate the challenges of married life.
